Yale Combo lock #1 serial number:

Yale Combo lock #2 serial number:

This is a pair (two) of vintage Yale combination padlock that are from the 1950's. You would see these type of locks on every locker at a high school or middle school. The keyway is high security key usually only possessed by the Superintendent or Principal/ Vice Principal with the Master Key that opened every lock on campus. If you were serving detention then it would be common that your school locker would be searched by disciplinary staff or teacher searching thoroughly for more contraband to extend your detention. If you forgot or misplaced your combination there was a record log book with every locks SERIAL NUMBER marked down with the combination to that lock.
The Lock works good and it remains locked. The black Dial turns easily and there are no stuck spots. Lock is made of steel and the finish on the shackle and housing show signs of wear (scratches, stains etc.).  The black dial is very clean on both locks with very clean and bright white numerals. The Numbers on the dial go from 0 to 47 with 3 dashes in between every 4 number (0-4-8-12-16-20-24-28-32-36-40-44) spots on dial. The finish has come slightly off. But remains in great shape. On the dial where you put your fingers to rotate there appears to have been pliers or channel locks applied with pressure to leave a mark but not that bad (You can see this in last photo). The other dial is clean and free of any tool marks.
Embossed on the back of the lock is the YALE logo in the center and "Â Yale & Towne Mfg Co; Yale; Made in USA "
On the front dial there is a large keyway directly in the center of the dial, around the keyway are small grooves for grip or like teeth around a gear.
NOTE THAT THE DIAL HAS EXACTLY 47 GROOVES OR TEETH THAT GO WITH THE 47 NUMBERS.
I am not sure if the combination to these locks can be reset if the key was inserted into the lock. I do not know if these locks are resettable if the key was available then I would know. Sorry.
I do not know why that the keyway does not line up with zero or with parallel to 0 or why the angle of key entry is randomly set. I have a couple other locks just like this and their keyway direction is also random.
Also info on lock found on ebay:
